Hi All!!
I know that I'm already late for my first blog post of this year but as they say, "it's never too late." So a very very Happy 2017 you guys!!
For the first post I wanted to just give out my opinions about basic fashion. So here I have jotted down all the wardrobe essentials that will get you through with an ease. With just the essentials you'll have endless options and with mixing-matching, your outfits won't even look repeated.
The secret to easy effortless dressing is not just having great style but a well-rounded wardrobe full of classic and timeless pieces that go with everything and that can take you from one season to another. The building blocks of your wardrobe should include staples such as a classic white shirt, a trusty pair of skinny jeans, a sleek black blazer, a worn in denim jacket (great for layering!), and an array of shoes for every type of occasion. While you can definitely extend this list (don't we all love fashion!), I can guarantee that these are enough to get you out of any occasion.
Don't be caught again without something to wear! Make sure these wardrobe essentials are part of your everyday basics and you'll see that besides having something (chic) to wear, any new acquisition (trendy or not) you make will fit perfectly fine with what you already own.
After all, with good basics, you'll have endless options.
To start with, know the FIVE basic rules:
- FIT: The fit must be perfect, or close to perfect. Minor alterations like hemming pants, sleeves, or skirts is an easy fix. Don't buy pants that's whisker around the crotch, or dresses that are too tight at the waist. If you have to find a skilled tailor to do your alteration, it's better to keep shopping for something that fits better.
- COMFORT: Make sure you can move comfortably in each item you buy. There is no room in your closet for a dress you can't sit down in.
- VERSATILITY: Can you think of three or more ways to wear it with other items you already own? Don't buy something that you know needs an extra piece to complete the look.
- QUALITY: It's important to invest in quality made pieces that will wear well with age.
- FABRIC CONTENT: When you can, buy natural fibres. Natural fibres include silk, cotton, linen, wool, alpaca, cashmere, leather. They tend to be more comfortable, easier to launder, and don't hold odours the way man-made fabrics like polyester tend to do. Just because it is a natural fibre, doesn't mean it is good quality. Make sure it is still comfortable to wear (not too itchy or irritating). Natural fibres like cotton, linen, and leather tend to get softer with age, so this is another big plus!

Now that you know the basic rules, let's talk about the actual styles that make up your "BASIC" wardrobe.
Denim Shirt: My personal favourite and ever versatile. Dress it up or down according to your preference and you're good to go!
White Shirt: Do I even need to explain my point?! A crisp white shirt is a staple element in your wardrobe. I feel I can conquer everything in a crisp white shirt, not even kidding.
Flannel Shirt: A nice Flannel checked shirt is all you need to go through a dull day.
Black Tee: Without making a hundred points, not just black, but white, black, grey t-shirts will go a long way with you. They go freakingly well with everything. And by everything I mean EVERYTHING!
Updated Tee: A weekend must. Or swap it in under a blazer for an easy work-chic look.
Flowy Blouse: This versatile silhouette can be paired alone with skinny jeans or under a blazer for a more polished look.
Shift Dress: Date night, girls’ night or night-in approved. You’ll never want to slip out of this comfy silhouette.
Cardigan: The easiest throw-on-and-go layer. Wear it with a soft white tee for an effortless look.
Denim Jacket: You can literally wear it with everything. And, like a fine wine, it only gets better with age.
Leather Jacket: Say no more! GET IT!
Tan Coat: Anything but bland, this warm-toned hue goes with everything.
Dark-Wash Denim: A casual Friday saviour & your go-to date-night denim.
Boyfriend Jeans: Easy, comfortable & versatile—baggy and ideal for summers.
Leggings: As if you needed a reason to wear leggings.
Classic Tote: From office to a weekend getaway, a bag that’ll stay stylish for seasons to come.
Bright Flats: Instantly stylish & oh-so comfortable. Your go-to alternative to heels.
Sneakers: Give your running shoes the boot with fashionable slip-ons. Athleisure is your new BFF.
Stilleto-Pumps: For a polished and formal look, add nude or black pumps. The sleeker the better.
Strappy Sandals: Comfy and an essential for summers.
